Kokrobite Beach Ghana

08/25/2025

Kokrobite began centuries ago as a Ga fishing village, founded by fishermen drawn by the rich Atlantic waters of Ghana’s southern coast.

During the colonial era, British influence introduced Christianity and formal education, but locals preserved their traditions and fishing heritage.

In 1988, Master drummer Mustapha Tettey Addy founded the Academy of African Music and Arts (AAMA) in Kokrobite, establishing the town as a vibrant hub for cultural learning, drum workshops, and artistic exchange.

Over recent decades, Kokrobite has evolved into a cherished cultural and tourist destination, beloved for its idyllic beaches, surf-worthy waves, and rhythms that pulse through its nights.
