Hidden in the twin villages of Boabeng and Fiema (Bono East region), the Boabeng-Fiema Monkey Sanctuary is one of Ghana’s best examples of community-based conservation: two monkey species (Campbell’s Mona and Geoffrey’s Black-and-White Colobus) live free inside a protected sacred grove and are treated as part of village life. Visitors trek gentle forest trails, meet curious monkeys that may sit on your shoulder, see the monkey cemetery, and learn how traditional beliefs and modern conservation have kept this sanctuary thriving for generations.
